The positive momentum continues.
After placing 180 da Vinci 5 systems in 2Q 2025, Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ: ISRG) placed another 240 this quarter, making up more than 60% of the total da Vinci systems sold in 3Q 2025.
Notably, the first systems were placed in Japan and Europe.
The robust sales growth since last year translates to about 20% year-on-year (YOY) worldwide procedural growth for the quarter, exceeding 18% YOY growth for 1H 2025.
More sales and more procedures naturally lead to increased revenue and profit.
Revenue for this quarter is up by 23% YOY to US$2.51 billion and GAAP diluted earnings-per-share (EPS) jumped by 25% to US$1.95!
And the growth looks set to continue as management raised the 2025 guidance for da Vinci procedure growth and gross margin.
- da Vinci procedure growth (from 15.5-17% to 17%-17.5%)
- Gross margin (from 66%-67% to 67%-67.5%)
Staying vested
I’m pleased with the latest performance and am glad that I increased my stake in August when market was selling it cheaper due to concern of tariffs’ impact.
The market appears to be happy with the latest set of results, sending its pre-market share price up by more than 17% at the time of this writing.
Unless something drastic happens, Intuitive should continue to grow at a good rate for the next few years. Therefore, I will hold to my current stake to participate in its growth.
